Easy solution to that... be smart and don't be there. It's the wrong time to show strength, unless Biden really wants to become a martyr for President Harris. Just secretly relocate the whole thing to Gettysburg or any other location with national significance...

Relocate the inauguration. OK...Maybe we should relocate the Capitol. For the next 4 years. Put it on wheels and drive it around to undisclosed locations.

By the way, they're planning a "secondary attack" on the U.S. Capitol, as well as various state capitol buildings, for the 17th. Which is not the day of the inauguration.

Maybe we can just institute mobile governments for each state?

Ohio's government may feel more at home in Mississippi.

They plan to attack that and the inauguration. But while the Capitol is an building that can be defended with enough manpower the inauguration as we know it surely is not. It just takes one lucky bullet for them to get what they want - this should be too scary to be American about it.

From another article:
Officials who were on the call cautioned lawmakers about divulging too much information to the media, saying that sharing dates, times, and countermeasures could help those who are coordinating the riotous efforts. HuffPost chose not to reveal some information, like who purportedly is behind these plots and when they’re happening.

One Congress member said that these groups were trying to get reporters to cover the planned demonstrations: “Some of their main communications to organize these have been cut off, so they’re purposely trying to get the media to report on this as a way to further disseminate information and to attract additional support for their attacks.”

Or at least "leak" information that the Inauguration ceremony will occur inside the Pentagon. Lead Trump to focus his army in that direction. I wonder how close they'll get to occupying General Milley's office before being permanently incapacitated. Might make for a good house cleaning. Many Twitter followers will be lost that day.

To hold a public outdoor inauguration in the face of credible threats is the height of folly — and that's just because of COVID. Throw in the nutjobs and armed insurrectionists, and... o_O:freakout::slu:
The hope is that 10-15,000 armed National Guardsmen + assorted Federal officers (think "Lexington square") can cordone off the platform while the Secret Service monitors the internet threats. I'm pretty confident that they can handle it, but there definitely is a high level of risk here.

Qanon and the white supremacists lost a lot of "support" with the Jan 6 crap. I wonder if an actual attack on the inauguration would bring down such a hell storm that they go the way of the KKK. Not completely gone, but discredited and dissembled to the point they won't be as big of a threat.

Twitter has done more than anyone else to make him less dangerous. He has lost his direct channel to inflame and incite his followers, making it harder to stir up coordinated action. Expect more violence but in smaller groups and moe scattered.
Eeeeh. Sorry, to me that reads like:

His arms dealers of many years have done more than anyone else to make him less dangerous. He has lost his direct channel to acquire weaponry, making it harder to stir up coordinated action. Expect more violence but in smaller groups and moe scattered.
Twitter gave a fuck for years. They cared zilch about his hatespeech, his inflammatory comments, about all the QAnons going bonkers about their platform. They cared nothing about the insanity of over 70k(!) accounts for years. Now they banned them, sure. Yeah.
After those people literally tried their hand at actual sedition, violence and possible terrorism in the heart of the US government.

But not a single second before that. It made them too much money. Twitter are not the 'good guys' here. They just had no other choice now because the potential backlash finally outweighted the benefit of keeping them there. It was a simple cold business calculation.

Both social media and traditional media dropped the ball on Trump years ago. He has been allowed to post libelous material and incitement to violence unchecked until the aftermath of the election. He has been specifically exempted from the terms & conditions of major sites in a way that he has exploited. The traditional media had a years-long "debate" over using the word "lies" and applying basic fact-checking and follow-up questions in reports about Trump that started when he was a celebrity joke before he was thought of as a real candidate. Some basic journalism would have blunted Trump early on.

So yes, profit blinded a number of companies to Trump, and he used it. He has consistently been held to a lower standard, and used that until he threatened the profits of platforms that finally saw their fear of losing money outweigh their fear of losing Trump's followers.

The media firms learned nothing, and will only change if they are held accountable either legally or financially for their actions or inaction.

Same with the GOP - they backed his bullshit for years, and even the ones who decided to follow the rule of law at the last minute really should be held accountable for their actions. We need to stop letting them have a pass.

There are no illegal guns in Idaho. It's a right wing state. Instead, tell them it will be held at the Statue of Liberty, a suitably iconic site. If they gather there in a large group, just stop the ferries and arrest them at their leisure.

Don't worry, the Biden team has been planning a mostly virtual inauguration from some time.

To me it looks like they want to get their neck out of the noose. Most likely their legal teams finally outcried the PR teams. Not holding them accountable now is like not trying a murderer because he spared the 10th potential victim. Don't let them get away with this.
