I can't get over President George Bailey. Firstly, the omnibus bill to which the covid relief is attached was created by Republicans and the White House. Unless we wish to say that Trump was paying it no mind or perhaps golfing (likely as he doesn't do the job, just the perks), then he is and was fully aware of what is in it.

Different versions of relief to the public have been sitting on McConnell's desk since at least May. He offered up his own skinny bill, that being the one giving corporations liability, and no help for us. I think the biggest thing in Trump's mind besides vengeance on McConnell is wanting vengeance upon tech companies.

George Bailey, he is not. It takes a special kind of delusion to even have that thought.

I don't think anybody expects things to be better on January 1, 2021. I think there is just a hopeful expectation that "things" will be better on December 31, 2021 than they were on December 31, 2020; and I don't think that hope is so unreasonable.
