In the U.S. people are flocking to the Right because it's promising to take away their healthcare, social security, education and leave them vulnerable to the pandemic. I have to admit, that's such a persuasive and appealing agenda that the Left really can't compete.
Don't you see? By getting rid of every vestige of "socialism" I will be able to live my dream of becoming a billionaire industrialist like Trump!

Trump is only in front in North Carolina at the moment, in the states that are still counting.
I'm ready for the ultimate moment to arrive:
The U.S. is now in situation where 100% of a state's polling precincts can be finished counting and the vote still not called thanks to the legions of mail-in voters. We're gonna need to start drinking early.

SMH.

This is maybe one of the things that amazes me as a European the most about US elections: they seem to be so poorly organized! Much of this debacle could have been easily avoided with a little bit of forward planning.
At the county level, of which there are 3141 in the US, running elections is a part-time and volunteer affair. Pre-pandemic I would early vote at my local library, which is only a mile from where I live. The election staff are my neighbors, mostly retired because Election Day in the US is not a holiday. People with jobs can't take the time off. The staff get at most a day or two of training on how to use the equipment. That's laptops to verify our registration to vote, the electronic voting machines, and then the scanner to read the printed ballot the voting machine produces. The printed ballot is in case of recounts later, there will be a record.

Conservatives deliberately under-fund the election process, to make it easier to suppress votes. The Democrat-held US House passed a bill to spend $500 million earlier this year for additional election equipment because of the heavy expected mail-in ballots. The Republican-held Senate refused to consider the bill, one of about 200 bills they have held up (bills become law when both parts of Congress & the President pass them). In short, the system is fucked up because they want it that way.

The FAA's TFR, or Temporary Flight Restriction, that was put up over Biden's home in Delaware on Wednesday morning has been upgraded to an NDZ, or National Defense Zone, like that over Washington DC and Trump Tower in New York.
Can I get a designation like that for my apartment building? There's a tiny airport up the road from it and sometimes single engine planes buzz a little too low for comfort.

Omg, this. This, this, this. I have said it more times than I count...after knocking on doors 2 years ago in a very conservative town, I can tell you that, to many people with any sort of conservative leaning whatsoever in the US even the word "progressive" is synonymous with "socialism" which is synonymous with "communism". You can point out that the roads the drive on are possible through "socialism". That the Social Security they collect is "socialist", but they'll refuse to see that. Instead, to THEM, "Socialism" is them having to, apparently, give up all rights and freedoms and carry a million lazy people who refuse to work on their backs. Or something. It's one of the worst evils ever.
In the early 20th century the scare word was "anarchists", because socialism hadn't yet fully developed. Trump's painting of Antifa is basically recycling all the old anarchist tropes. He can't use the word anarchist because people now think of them as bomb-throwers who want to tear down the government, and that's *his* people. Antifa was a relatively unknown group, so he could appropriate the name for his purposes.

My advice to someone like you, and me too in much of Georgia, is not to use the progressive label. Instead, just point to the specific policies - tax fairness, education, clean air and water, etc. There's such a disconnect in many conservative minds - they like health care that covers pre-existing conditions but hate Obamacare. They've been taught to hate the label, but are actually OK with the programs and policies.

Sure all you have to do is run for president and then win.

I might vote for you, if it helps...
